When I moved to western Pennsylvania in 2000, I began to learn about this wonderful man and his accomplishments outside of his day job. I became a fan.
One thing that surprised me, is that the Akron U. VP of Strategic Development echoed the autonomy, mastery and purpose ideas espoused by Daniel Pink in Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us. Jim's notable addition is "connectedness" -- that we're only happy and satisfied when what we're doing connects us to others.
He's right. Therefore, I humbly propose an addition to the Motivation 3.0 bullets:
- Connectedness
- Autonomy
- Mastery
- Purpose
